Our main aim is to help these widows and mitigate this shocking way of life. We are trying to advocates this less known issue of ‘Tiger widows’ on a national and international level including GTI, GTF, IUCN, MFF, UNESCO, ADB who are funding many Sundarban projects to save the nature and tiger. Our aim is to force the government to provide compensation for the families after a person’s death by tiger attack modifying the present legal structure for benefiting the widows. Apart from this, our aim is to provide special school primarily for the children of the Tiger widows. The objective is to mainstream these children slowly into the government schools, thus keeping them away from the entering the forest right from a young age. We also want to mobilize the widows in self help group and develop their skills for alternative income generating activities. We have a program to develop a Old Age Home with a Gosala for the aged widows. Talk to your local representative. Also any donation for this cause will be helpful.
